NOTD: ILNP Bishop (H)

ILNP‘s Bishop (H) is a metallic olive/khaki duochrome with holo.  Nice application, easy cleanup, wore well, all the usual ILNP praise.  The only thing I have to say that’s even slightly negative is that I don’t know if the holo adds anything to this polish.  It’s not typically visible unless you’re looking for it.

Housekeeping:  Gonna be a WIP post this week.  I only have two WIPs but one of them will be done this weekend, the other isn’t close.  And maybe it’ll be cool enough this weekend to finally cut out the rest of my fabric for my one sewing project.

FO: Sheherazade Beaded Lace Shawl

Finished this sooner than I thought I would.  This is Sheherazade Beaded Lace Shawl, knit in madelinetosh Pure Silk Lace, color “Duchess”.

I blogged a little about this project here.

This was an entertaining knit up until the very end where there are about a million stitches per row.  The pattern was clear (except for one part) and instructions were easy to follow.

The part that wasn’t clear is yarn usage guidelines.  The beginning of the pattern says it’s easy to adjust the size of your shawl by knitting more or fewer repeats of the body charts, but nowhere does it say anything like “you should start the border charts once you have used up 30% of your yarn” or similar.  I looked at other projects to see if I could get an idea but people’s usage varied wildly.  The pattern suggests 1300 yards of yarn, I only had 1000.  I opted to knit one fewer repeat than suggested, and I had 28g left.  Also, because I knit fewer repeats, my shawl is much more shallow than I was hoping for.  Regardless, I still like how this project turned out – but the FO might not turn out to be for me.

NOTD: Love, Angeline Pinky Pal

Today I’m wearing Pinky Pal by Love, Angeline.  This is a neon pink jelly with flakies in it.

Formula was kind of thick – you can see in my macro photo that I have a bit of shrinkage at the tips – but otherwise okay.  Lots of visible nail line, but eh.  The flakies didn’t come out as much as I had hoped, either.

In other news, that’s two nail polish posts in a row again, so I’m probably going to do another WIP post this week.  I do have one project that is almost finished, but I’m going to have to block it and wait for it to dry, so that won’t be up until late this week or next weekend.

FO: Los Monos Locos/The Crazy Monkeys

Hard to believe this is my sixth pair of Monkeys (fourth pair of this toe-up version).  Yarn is Seacoast Handpainted Panda, in colorway “Afterglow”.

This yarn striped a lot more than I was expecting, kind of neat.  And now for real, I’m not starting any more socks until I finish at least one shawl.  Well, I might start the next vanilla socks for a potential road trip this weekend and then abandon them until I finish something else.
