Sophie Q is finished! This took forever to dry, too. Yarn is Madelinetosh Pashmina Worsted in Ultramarine Violet.
So, purple isn’t a color I usually wear, but when we went to Austin a few months ago for a weekend I visited a local yarn store (Gauge, which I adored). I couldn’t resist a SQ of Malabrigo Worsted in Jacinto. And while I was taking pictures of it for my Ravelry stash I noticed that I had like, four other purple SQs, and I decided right then I really needed to make a purple sweater this season. This particular SQ is the oldest purple SQ in my stash. I picked it up at the sadly departed Madtosh Crafts in Fort Worth, which I considered my LYS even though it was more than 30 miles away from my house. I saw this SQ sitting on the Pashmina Worsted shelf for two consecutive visits (and it wasn’t like I could get there that often) and told myself if it was there the next time it was meant to come home with me.
The only modification I made to the pattern was that my sleeves are about an inch shorter than the pattern specifies. I was running out of yarn, and I also remembered that the other sweater I’ve made from this yarn grew a ton after a wash and I actually ended up putting that one in the dryer on low for about 20 minutes to help it re-shrink. I was hoping this would make up for stopping an inch short, and it did – the whole sweater is exactly as oversized as I was hoping for.
